ONLINEIPT® SITE PRIVACY POLICY

Effective starting: April 19, 2017 (view current versions)

The following policy applies to OnlineIPT® Web site ("Site") operated by Ballard & Tighe, Publishers, a division of Educational IDEAS, Inc., (hereinafter referred as "B&T"). B&T recognizes the importance of protecting the information that we collect from customers as they interact with the Site, including purchase transactions, user registration, and Site use. It is our policy to use this information, or information acquired through user postings at our Site, for internal business purposes only, and we maintain appropriate security measures to keep this information private. The privacy policy below applies to the Site only. Communications with Customers offline, at live events, via the telephone, or through the mail are covered under separate policies.

INFORMATION COLLECTED DURING REGISTRATION

The Site requires registration to access the system and creates your account automatically using your email address. This makes it easier for you as you don't have to create and remember a login identifier. The use of your email address for login also allows the Site the chance to email you a new password in case you forget or lose your old one.

INFORMATION COLLECTED DURING SITE USE

The Site collects personal information that you provide to us and uses it to personalize and setup the Site for you. This includes information on users authorized to access the Site under each main account and identifies district, school sites, and authorized examiners. It also potentially includes student names, birthdates, and student demographic information and score data, all of which is kept secure as further discussed in "Data Security" below. Such student information is used to produce individual and group reports for various levels of authorized users under your account.

USE OF INTERNET COOKIES

When you visit the Site, we may store information about your web session and assign you one or more "cookies". Your browser will store these cookies on your computer in a small text file. For example, when you decide to login as a Site Customer, we store encrypted information in your browser so you don't have to login on every page. Permanent cookie files remain on your computer's hard drive until you delete them manually using your browser or operating system software. You may wish to delete such cookies periodically from your computer. You can enable your browser to refuse cookies, but doing so may disable access to some services and tools that we offer.

PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

We take every step possible to protect your privacy at all times. We also employ security measures to protect personal information in storage. The data will always remain protected, and we will never add you to any e-mail lists unless you make a specific request for us to do so. We will use any information we gather only to help us understand your needs and make our website or products more valuable to you. We will not provide any personal information to other companies or individuals without your permission and we won’t sell your personal information to anyone.

B&T may disclose to authorized law enforcement personnel the personal data from anyone who poses a threat. This might include those that are attempting to commit fraud or those who conduct activities that could bring harm to others.

DATA SECURITY

The Site has a sophisticated security program intended to keep the information stored in our Site protected from unauthorized access. We store your information in a secure data center located in the United States. Our Site is configured with data encryption, or scrambling technologies and firewalls constructed to the highest industry standards. We also use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology that protects the data you send over the Internet.

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

The assessment data created and obtained from the use of the Site, and/or their related services is owned by B&T. B&T may use this assessment data for internal business purposes. We use student demographic information and test responses to properly score the student, provide diagnostic information on their weaknesses, and report scores in groups by demographic characteristics. Without reference to information related to student names, we may also use the same data for renorming purposes and improving the quality of the test.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

B&T reserves the right to modify this privacy statement at any time. If there are material changes to this statement on how the Site will use your personal information, we will prominently post these changes prior to implementing them. If you use our Site after we post these changes, this indicates your acceptance of them. Regardless of later updates, we will follow the privacy practices described in this privacy statement at the time you provided us with your information.
